Both men and women visit Desert Plastic Surgery Center for facelift and neck lift surgery in Rancho Mirage from Palm Springs, Palm Desert and the surrounding areas to reverse the signs of aging and restore their natural beauty. If you’re struggling with a saggy neck, excess skin, excess fat, vertical bands, wrinkles or see noticeable folds or creases - a necklift procedure might be something to consider.
The neck lift (also known as platysmaplasty) procedures aim to give you a more youthful appearance. As we age, our faces and necks typically show the signs of aging first. The neck lift procedures can be used to address the issues with aging around the neck. Neck lifts are commonly performed and added with other supplemental procedures to give you a more youthful appearance. During the neck lift, not only is the loose skin tightened but muscles can be tightened too. The results of the neck lift procedures include:
A youthful, more defined jaw line.
Reduction / elimination of vertical bands.
No more loosened, flappy, saggy skin.
Elimination of the dreaded “turkey neck”.
Removal of excess fat, for a tighter, more firm appearance.
The necklift procedures are done under local anesthesia and are outpatient procedures. The patient will be able to go home the same day of the procedure. When this procedure starts, the doctor will make a small incision behind the ears or under the chin (or both). Small instruments are then used to tighten the muscle and remove excess fat / skin. Sutures are then placed to maintain the results until they are removed.
Unfortunately, the neck is more prone to developing sagging, wrinkles, folds quicker than the face. It’s one of the first areas on the body to show signs of aging. Gravity, sun damage, smoking along with many other variables contribute to these problem areas. Similar to a facelift, this procedure focuses more on the jaw line and areas surrounding the neck. The neck lift surgery improves facial contours by addressing many variables such as; sagging skin, vertical banding, double chin, jowls and the dreaded ‘turkey neck”. When these become a problem and insecurities become noticeable, it might be time to consider a necklift.
The ideal candidate for a necklift in the Palm Springs area is between 40 and 70. Candidates that are in good health, don’t smoke who might be suffering from wrinkles, sagging skin, vertical banding, double chin, jowls, “turkey neck”, loose skin on the neck and other “signs of aging” are ideal candidates.
As with any other procedure, it’s important to give yourself some time to recover. You will be able to return home shortly after your surgery. The area’s will be carefully bandaged. Typically, you will have to return to the office the day after for a follow up appointment. Any possible pain or discomfort is normal but should not last long. Keeping your head elevated for the first 48 hours is recommended to reduce swelling. Keep in mind, swelling, bruising can last for several days and is normal in most procedures. It’s always advised to get as much bedrest, and relax after the procedure has been done. Any possible tightness, numbness areas on the skin are completely normal while you recover and should not be a cause for concern.
